The unique properties of the Sky Tree design lie in its skillful use of layout, empty space, and geometric enframed scenery. These elements work together to create an area with independent and distinct features. The design seamlessly connects different spaces through traffic flows, just-right empty spaces, and enframed artworks, transforming the indoor space into a harmonious and multi-functional area with a symmetrical and layered design.
The design of the Sky Tree is realized through a combination of traditional and modern techniques. The foreyard, for example, features the abstract simplicity and nobility of ancient China, with five doctor pines symbolizing the promotion of government officials. A lifelike sculpture of a gallant horse in a resting posture adds to the aesthetic appeal and metaphorical significance of the space.
On the southeast side of the design, elegant frangipani trees, geometric enframed scenery, and overlapped depth of field create a warm and romantic atmosphere reminiscent of the lazy charm of the southern countryside. As sunlight filters through the trees, this area becomes a laid-back space with abundant light, evoking a resort-like ambiance.
The challenges faced during the creation of the Sky Tree design included the integration of the pool as a microclimate adjuster and an artistic element. The pool, symbolizing a jade belt, enhances the garden concept with humanistic thought. It generates poetic charms that change with the location within the area, guided by traffic flows.
The Sky Tree design has received recognition for its outstanding creativity and ingenuity. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Landscape Planning and Garden Design in 2020. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology. The Sky Tree design contributes to improving the quality of life and making the world a better place.
